Your Second Spring: Menopause & Beyond

Reclaiming power, pleasure, and your creative voice in the most potent phase of your life

The Narrative You've Been Given

You've been told menopause means decline. That your body is broken. That your sexual life is essentially over, or should be reduced to managing symptoms so you can "keep going as before."

You're supposed to take HRT, use lubricant, and accept that hot flushes, vaginal dryness, sleepless nights, mood swings, and lack of desire are just "part of getting older." That the best you can hope for is symptom management.

And you're certainly not supposed to talk about it.

Meanwhile, your body might feel foreign. Sex might hurt. Your vulva might be so dry and sore you can't bear to touch it. You might feel invisible, like the world has decided you're no longer sexually relevant. Perhaps you've lost all interest in sex, or you're having it but it feels like going through the motions. Numb. Disconnected. Something's missing.

Here's what I want you to know: None of this means your body is broken.

What if menopause isn't an ending but an arrival? What if your body isn't failing you but rather refusing to continue living in ways that were never truly satisfying?

Perimenopause and Menopause: What's Really Happening in Your Body

Most women come to this work in perimenopause, the years of change before periods stop altogether. Cycles shorten or scatter. Sleep thins. Desire moves in ways that make no sense to you. Perimenopause and menopause are one long transition rather than two separate events, and this work meets you anywhere along it.

Yes, the biological changes are real. When menstruation stops (officially confirmed after twelve months without a period), your ovaries are no longer producing oestrogen and progesterone in the same way.

But here's what's rarely discussed: the energy that once went into creating babies doesn't disappear. It transforms.

In ancient Chinese medicine, post-menopause is called "the second spring", a time when women step into their power as wisdom-keepers. The creative energy that once went into biological reproduction can now be channelled into creative projects, leadership, deep wisdom, authentic power.

Your womb (which contains more neural pathways than any part of your brain) doesn't stop being a source of intelligence and creativity just because it's no longer preparing for pregnancy. It becomes a centre of different creative potential.

The Physical Reality

The symptoms are genuine:

  • Vaginal dryness and thinning of vaginal walls
  • Reduced natural lubrication
  • Pain during penetrative sex
  • Hot flushes that disrupt sleep
  • Shifting moods and heightened emotions
  • Changes in libido, sometimes increased, often decreased
  • Fatigue and anxiety

These happen because oestrogen levels fluctuate dramatically, sometimes hour to hour, influenced not just by biology but by your thoughts, emotions, stress levels, and life circumstances.

When you're caring for ageing parents whilst supporting adult children whilst working full-time, your body produces stress hormones that deplete progesterone. Your already-exhausted adrenal glands scramble to produce enough oestrogen. This is why the anxiety and irritability feel overwhelming.

Your body isn't broken. It's responding exactly as it should to impossible demands whilst also navigating a profound biological transformation.

The Deeper Invitation

If we only focus on symptom management, we miss what's actually happening.

Your body is asking you to live differently.

To rest more. To stop giving when you're depleted. To notice what you actually want. To set boundaries. To refuse what no longer serves you. To prioritise your own pleasure and nourishment.

This is why so many women in this phase find themselves standing at a crossroads in their relationships. It's not "just hormones" making you suddenly dissatisfied. It's that you can finally no longer tolerate what you've been accepting for decades.

The Relationship Reckoning

Perhaps you've been having sex you don't really want for years. Going through the motions to keep the peace. Or perhaps sex stopped entirely years ago and you've both pretended that's fine.

Maybe your partner approaches you the same way they always have (quick, goal-oriented, focused on their pleasure) and your body simply refuses. It's not that you've "lost your libido." For many women it turns out to be less about wanting nothing and more about not wanting it that way. Not anymore."

Some women at this stage leave relationships. Some stay and rebuild from a place of truth. Some are single and wondering if they can even imagine being sexual with someone new.

Whatever your situation, the work is the same: reclaiming your body for yourself first.

Not to "fix" yourself so you can have the kind of sex your partner wants. Not to become desirable again by external standards. But to come home to your own body. To discover what actually feels good to you now. To trust your own desires and boundaries.

The Physical Healing: Beyond Lubricant

Let's talk practically about vaginal dryness and pain, because this affects up to 75% of menopausal women, and it's genuinely distressing.

When sex hurts every single time, it's not surprising that you cut off from your lower body. That you avoid intimacy. That you feel doubtful about your womanhood. That you wonder if your body will ever feel alive again.

Pain during sex can have many causes: hormonal changes, thinning vaginal walls, lack of arousal time, cellular memories from past experiences, internal scarring, chronic tension.

What Can Help

  • Slowing Down: Many women find they need much more time than they used to. Some find the change is somewhere else entirely. Not because it's broken, but because it's become more sensitive, more discerning. Fast, friction-based sex that worked in your twenties no longer serves you.
  • Conscious Touch: When you slow down enough to actually feel sensations (gentle touch that awakens nerve endings rather than rushing toward goals), your body begins to remember it can feel pleasure.
  • Working with Your Breasts: Your breasts are an energy centre. When you learn to connect to them as a source of aliveness, not as objects to be grabbed, this awakens receptivity throughout your entire body, including your vulva.
  • Organic Coconut Oil: Raw organic coconut oil genuinely helps. Used regularly, it seems to plump up vaginal tissue. It can be inserted before lovemaking, and the body melts it perfectly.
  • Pressure-Free Exploration: Penetration doesn't have to be the goal. When penetration becomes optional rather than expected, bodies often relax enough to actually want it.

Important Note

This work takes time. It takes patience. It requires approaching your body with curiosity rather than pushing through pain. There are no guarantees, but there is possibility.

Sexuality Transformed: From Performance to Presence

Here's what's possible that nobody tells you:

For women who engage with embodiment practices, sexuality can become richer after menopause. Deeper. More satisfying than it's ever been.

Not despite the changes, but because of them.

When you're no longer able to override your body's wisdom, when you can't just "push through," you're invited to discover a completely different approach to sexuality, one that's actually designed for how female bodies work.

What Can Change

You're no longer worried about pregnancy, which removes a layer of unconscious anxiety that may have been present for decades.

You're less willing to fake pleasure. Less willing to perform. Less willing to prioritise someone else's arousal over your own experience.

Through this work, you might discover:

  • More interest in sensation than achieving orgasm
  • Preference for connection over performance
  • How something feels becomes more important than how it looks
  • Your whole body can experience pleasure, not just your genitals
  • Slowness isn't boring; it's where aliveness lives
  • Receptivity isn't passive: it's a profound capacity
  • Your body knows things your mind doesn't
  • Pleasure is your birthright, not something you have to earn

This is what it can mean to come home to your body.

Creative Emergence: The Power Within

If your womb has the potential to create human life, it also has the potential to create. Full stop.

The energy that once went into menstrual cycles and biological reproduction doesn't vanish. It's held within, reabsorbed, and becomes available for different forms of creation.

This is why so many women in their fifties, sixties, and beyond suddenly:

  • Start businesses they've been dreaming about for years
  • Write books, create art, develop new skills
  • Train for entirely new careers
  • Step into leadership in ways they never felt confident to before
  • Finally give themselves permission to follow what genuinely calls them
  • Stop people-pleasing and start saying no without guilt

This isn't compensating for "lost femininity." This is accessing the power that was always there but channelled elsewhere.

Authentic power, not "power over" others, but power within. The capacity to know what you want and act from that knowing. To trust your instincts. To live from your womb wisdom rather than from what others expect.

The Relationships That Survive

Some relationships don't survive this transition. And that's not always a failure. Sometimes it's the most honest outcome.

But for partnerships that do continue, here's what's required from both people:

Willingness to tell the truth

To stop pretending. To admit what's not working. To grieve what's ending whilst remaining curious about what might be possible.

Shared commitment to a different approach

You can't heal sexual disconnection alone. Both partners need to be willing to explore slower, more conscious intimacy, even when it feels vulnerable and uncertain.

Respect for where you are now

Your body's wisdom needs to be honoured, not overridden. If penetrative sex doesn't work right now, that's information, not failure. If you need six months of just holding and breathing together before anything else, that's valid.

Many couples discover that this phase, once they move through the fear and grief, becomes the most honest, connected period of their relationship. But it requires both people choosing it.

Connection AND autonomy. Intimacy AND individual wholeness. This is what mature love looks like.

For Single Women: Wholeness First

You might be single at this stage, either newly divorced or by choice. And you're wondering: Can I even imagine being sexual with someone new? Do I know how to date? Is it too late?

The work here is about reclaiming your body for yourself first.

Not to attract a partner, but to feel at home in your own skin. To know what you want. To trust your desires. To build embodied boundaries. To discover that pleasure is available regardless of partnership status.

Because if you do meet someone, you want to meet them from wholeness, not desperation. From authentic desire, not fear of being alone.

And if you don't meet someone, you want to know your body is still a source of aliveness, creativity, and pleasure. That your sexuality belongs to you, not to whether someone else wants you.

Ancient Wisdom, Modern World

Thousands of years ago, menopausal women were revered as goddesses. They supported younger women through sexual initiations. They were the wisdom-keepers, the ones who held embodied knowing.

In Maya tradition, specific care is given to women's bodies through every life phase: girlhood, menstruation, pregnancy, birth, mothering, menopause. Each transition is honoured as sacred.

But in Western culture, we're lost in ignorance. We get our information from the internet and medical professionals who often see this transition through the lens of deficiency and decline.

We're told to "manage symptoms" so we can keep being productive, keep being available, keep putting everyone else first.

What if instead, we listened to what menopause is actually inviting us into?

A grand walk into our elder years. A threshold. An initiation. The arrival into the most creatively potent phase of our lives.

Not in spite of the changes, but because of them.

How We Work Together

One-to-One Sessions

Individual sessions provide safe, confidential space to explore whatever is arising: the relationship questions, the body changes, the identity shifts, the sexual awakening or shutdown, the grief, the power.

I work with your body's intelligence, not against it. Using somatic practices (breathwork, conscious touch, movement) to help your nervous system settle. Going at your body's pace, never pushing through. Touch-based work is always your choice and never required.

What Women Say

ETERNAL GODDESS PROGRAMME Menopause & Beyond (50s)

Self-Worth • Embodiment • New Beginnings
"I have learnt to check in with myself and check what I need before I respond to what other people want"

I am a 53-year-old mother who had just walked away from a 15-year relationship. I wanted to take stock of my life and re-evaluate how I was living. Taking part in this course has truly been phenomenal. Simple things like just gently stroking my hands and spending time with myself in a loving way (which I have never done before) has been profound.

I'm still the kind compassionate Jules I was before, but I am not anxious and burnt out. I have learnt to check in with myself and check what I need before I respond to what other people want.

Jules, 53

ONE-TO-ONE SESSIONS Midlife & Perimenopause

Empowerment • Embodiment • Transformation
"It feels like my life will never be the same again"

I felt very lost, numb and alone. I have tried other conventional therapies and medications but there was still something missing.

Even from the very first session I felt empowered and like someone had managed to see inside me and bring me out of my shell. It feels like my life will never be the same again.

Common Questions

Maybe. Or maybe your body is saying "not like that anymore." Many women discover that when they shift from fast, goal-oriented sex to slower, more present approaches, desire returns, but it's a different kind of desire. It's also okay if sex genuinely isn't important to you right now. The question is: are you at peace with that, or does it feel like loss? If it feels like loss, there's work we can do.

There is possibility. Through conscious touch practices and learning to work with your body rather than against it, some women discover they can experience pleasure again. It takes time. It takes patience. It requires approaching your body with curiosity rather than pushing through pain. But it's possible.

It's not too late if both of you are willing. But you can't do this work alone. It requires both people choosing to be honest, vulnerable, and do the uncomfortable work of reconnecting. Sometimes individual work comes first (reconnecting with your own body) before you can engage your partner differently. And sometimes the honest answer is that the relationship has run its course. Both outcomes are valid.

That fear is real. And staying out of fear isn't the same as staying out of choice. The work is learning to distinguish between fear of the unknown and intuitive wisdom that this relationship no longer serves you. Sometimes doing your own embodiment work first helps clarify what's true. Sometimes the clarity comes from finally being honest about what you actually want.

The question isn't whether you can imagine it. The question is: do you want to? And if you do, the work is reclaiming your body for yourself first. Building embodied confidence. Knowing your boundaries. Trusting your desires. Then if you meet someone, you meet them from wholeness rather than fear of being alone.

It's never too late. I work with women in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond. Your body is still capable of transformation, healing, pleasure, and power. The spirit you embody is eternally young and fresh. How you relate to your body now can impact your life in profound ways.

The First Step

If any of this resonates, if you're tired of just managing symptoms, if you long to feel alive in your body again, if you're standing at a crossroads and need support to navigate it: let's talk.
