Is This Right for You?

You are welcome here, and you are welcome to take your time deciding. Some people book a call the day they find this page. Others read it, close it, and come back to it over several months before they get in touch. There is no wrong length of time to think about this. One-to-one sessions offer dedicated, personalised attention in a completely confidential space, moving at the pace you set. Nobody is rushing you. There is nobody to compare yourself with. And there is no point you are supposed to have reached before you are allowed to begin.

Perhaps you feel disconnected from your body or your sexuality, and you want focused support to find your way back to yourself. Maybe past experiences, whether recent or from long ago, still affect your capacity for intimacy, trust, or pleasure. You might be navigating life transitions like perimenopause, relationship changes, or rediscovering yourself after years of caring for others.

This work is particularly valuable if you prefer private exploration rather than group settings, or if you're working through something that feels too tender or personal to share in a group. If you want a deeper understanding of your body and your desires, and you are ready to invest in that, one to one work may be the right fit.

These sessions provide space for the kind of deeper, more intimate exploration that isn't possible in group settings. We can move slowly, pause when needed, return to something that wants more attention, and follow what's alive for you in each moment. There's no agenda except your healing and reconnection.

What to Expect in Your First Session

Many clients feel nervous before their first session - wondering what will actually happen, whether they'll feel safe, if they'll know what to say or do. This is completely natural. Here's what you can expect:

Before We Meet

After our discovery call, if we decide to work together, we'll arrange your first session. We'll discuss timing and format, and work out what suits your schedule - whether that's you sending me available dates, or using a booking link if that's easier.

For in-person sessions in North London, you'll receive the full address and any access information once your session is confirmed. For online sessions, you'll receive the Zoom link in advance.

When You Arrive (In-Person Sessions)

You'll arrive at my home practice space in North London - a warm, private room designed for comfort and safety. The space is quiet, comfortable, and you won't encounter other clients. Sessions are scheduled with time between them for complete privacy.

We'll begin with a simple check-in. I'll invite you to share what brought you here and what you're hoping for from our work together. There's no pressure to have this perfectly articulated - many people aren't entirely sure what they need when they first arrive, and that's completely fine.

For Online Sessions

We'll meet via Zoom, but for this work to be effective, you need a genuinely private, interruption-free space.

This means a room where you can close the door, where pets and children won't come in, where your partner or housemates know not to disturb you, and where you feel confident no one can overhear.

If you're worried about privacy at home - whether that's someone potentially listening, or not being able to truly relax because of interruptions - please mention this during our discovery call. This work requires you to feel completely safe and private. If that's not possible at home, in-person sessions would be better suited to your needs.

What Happens in the Session

Your first session gets straight into embodied practice - we don't spend ages talking about your history or analysing your situation. We work with what's present in your body right now.

My work is client-led, which means I'll begin by asking: "What do you want to have happen in this session?" Even if we've discussed your goals in our discovery call, I'll check in with what feels alive for you today.

Very often, people don't know the answer to that question - and that's completely fine. In fact, not knowing becomes part of the work itself. We'll use exercises to help you drop into your body and notice what you actually do want. This is the beginning of learning to listen to your body rather than override it.

If you're completely new to this work, I might offer you 2 or 3 options, but you choose what feels right. Everything we explore is your decision. The intention is always for the work to be as client-led as possible, because we're training you to notice what you want, value what's happening in your body, and be able to ask for what you need.

This might include:

  • Body awareness practices to help you notice what's actually present
  • Breathwork to support nervous system regulation
  • Boundary exploration - learning to recognise your genuine "yes," "no," and "maybe"
  • Sexual education - accurate information about anatomy, how arousal works, consent, and how bodies actually function (not how we think they "should")
  • Coaching support - using Clean Language facilitation when blocks arise, helping you explore what's present without me analysing or telling you what it means
  • Gentle movement or somatic practices
  • Touch education (this is always self-touch or guided awareness, not me touching you)

You're actively choosing what we do together, not passively receiving what I think you should do. If something doesn't feel right, you can say so - and we'll adjust or try something different.

What About Clothing?

For coaching and bodywork sessions, you remain fully clothed in your first session. Many clients work with me for months whilst fully clothed, and that's exactly as it should be. There is no pressure or expectation to undress - ever.

(If you're booking a professional tantric massage session, we'll discuss appropriate draping and what to expect during our discovery call, as that follows different protocols.)

If you're comfortable in loose, soft clothing that allows you to move and breathe easily, that's ideal. But wear whatever feels right for you.

What If I Feel Uncomfortable or Need to Stop?

If at any point you feel uncomfortable, overwhelmed, need to pause, or want to stop entirely - that's completely fine and expected. You can simply say "I need to pause" or "I need to stop."

Many clients experience moments of:

  • Feeling overwhelmed by sensation or emotion
  • Dissociation or disconnection
  • Anxiety or fear arising
  • Not knowing what they're feeling
  • Needing to cry (I always keep boxes of tissues around!)
  • Anger, frustration, or wanting to shout or stomp
  • Any emotion that's been held back or repressed

All of these responses are normal and welcome. We've often spent years repressing emotions - this work creates space for them to finally be expressed and released. Whether you need to cry, shout, move, be silent, or simply sit with what's arising - it's all part of your healing.

We work with whatever emerges, at your pace. The session is always in service of your healing and comfort.

What We Won't Do

This is not therapy where I analyse you or tell you what your problems are. This is not a situation where I have an agenda for what should happen or what you "should" experience.

You remain active in your own process. I guide and support, but you're discovering your own body's wisdom - not following my prescription for how you "should" be.

After the Session

We'll take time at the end to ground, reflect on what emerged, and discuss any practices you might explore at home. These between-session practices are simple - often just a few minutes of conscious breathing or body awareness.

You might feel energised, emotional, peaceful, tired, or uncertain after your first session. All of these responses are normal. Your body is processing new experiences and old patterns.

Between Sessions

I'm available via email or Whatsapp, if questions arise between sessions. Many clients find they have insights or questions in the days following a session, and I'm happy to respond and support you.

What Happens Next

After your first session, we'll discuss what frequency feels right for you. This depends on your budget, your capacity, and what you're working with. Most clients settle on monthly sessions, though some choose more or less frequent depending on their needs.

There's no pressure to commit to a specific number of sessions. We can work session by session, or you might choose a package if you know you want ongoing support.

The most important thing is that you feel this work serves you. If after the first session you don't feel it's the right fit, that's completely fine - this work isn't for everyone, and there's no obligation to continue.

Many one-to-one clients also explore sexological bodywork in London with Melanie Knight.

Common Questions About First Sessions

What if I don't know what to say?
You don't need to have it all figured out. Many people arrive saying "I just know something needs to change" without knowing exactly what. We'll work with what's present.
What if I cry?
Crying is welcome. Many people cry in sessions - it's often a release that's been waiting to happen. I'll hold space for whatever emotions arise.
What if nothing happens?
Sometimes first sessions feel quiet or subtle. The work is happening even when it doesn't feel dramatic. Trust the process.
What if I feel worse afterwards?
Sometimes bringing awareness to what we've been avoiding can initially feel uncomfortable. This is part of the process. We'll work at a pace your nervous system can handle.
What if I realise this isn't for me?
That's completely valid information. This work is not the right fit for everyone, and there is no shame in recognising that. I'd rather you honour what's true for you than push through discomfort that doesn't serve your healing.

The Foundation of This Work

Every session is fundamentally a place of learning where you remain in complete control of what to explore. We proceed carefully at your own pace. It's a process of discovery: not fixing, but exploring. You teach me about your inner landscape so we can work together from where you actually are, not where we think you "should" be.

The Foundation We Build Together

Creating Your Safe Environment

We choose the environment that suits your needs. We can work online via video call or in-person at my practice space in North London, a warm, private room designed for comfort and safety. You decide what feels right for where you are in your journey.

Waking Up to Your Body

We begin with practices to bring awareness into your body. This might include "waking up the hands" exercises, guided body scans, or breathwork, simple practices that help you notice what's actually present rather than what you think should be there.

In-person and online sessions both focus on reconnection and gentle, guided exploration. Anything involving touch is offered rather than assumed, happens only with your fully informed consent, and can be declined or stopped at any point without explanation. With online work, you remain entirely in control of what's happening in your own space.

When you're truly present and embodied, your body knows what to do.

Consent and Boundaries Work

Learning to notice your internal "yes," "no," and "maybe" is foundational to this work. Many of us have spent years overriding our body's signals, going along with things to keep the peace, or not even noticing what we truly want.

"A genuine 'yes' doesn't come from obligation. It emerges from authentic desire."

Together, we explore what a genuine "yes" feels like in your body, not the "yes" that comes from obligation or people-pleasing, but the one that emerges from authentic desire. We work with understanding where "no" shows up (sometimes in unexpected places), and learning to express boundaries clearly without guilt or apology.

We'll explore Dr. Betty Martin's Wheel of Consent (the dynamics of giving, receiving, taking, and allowing), which helps you recognise where you've been conditioned to please others at the expense of your own needs.

Nervous System Regulation

Your nervous system holds memories that talk therapy alone can't reach. When you've experienced difficult or traumatic events, your body develops protective patterns: freeze, fawn, fight, or flight responses that once kept you safe but may now limit your capacity for pleasure and connection.

"Your body's responses make sense given what you've experienced."

We work together to recognise these nervous system states when they arise, not to judge them but to understand them. You'll learn gentle practices that help your system release old protective patterns and build capacity to stay present with sensation and emotion.

This includes tools to self-regulate when you feel overwhelmed, ways to create safety from the inside out, and practices that gradually expand your window of tolerance for both pleasure and intensity.

Beyond Technique: The Body's Own Intelligence

Much of what's taught about sexuality focuses on external stimulation: techniques, positions, or even tantric practices you "do" to create pleasure. While these can be enjoyable, they often keep us disconnected from the body's own intelligence.

My work focuses on something deeper: helping you connect so fully to your body that it moves itself. When you're truly present and embodied, your body knows what to do. Your hips move in ways you didn't consciously choose. Your breath deepens. Sounds emerge. Your body expresses its own aliveness.

You'll discover:

The difference between making your body do something versus allowing your body to express itself. How to feel sensation from the inside rather than as something happening to you. What emerges when you stop controlling and start surrendering to your body's natural intelligence.

Some people find the body starts to move on its own, the breath deepens, sounds arrive without being planned. Others stay much quieter than that. Neither is doing it wrong.

This work reveals how presence creates more arousal than any technique ever could.

This isn't about performing or doing sexuality "right". It's about surrendering into the body's wisdom. It's the difference between using your body and inhabiting your body. When you're deeply embodied, even the simplest touch becomes profound.

This is the erotic as life force, as authentic expression, as the body fully alive.

It's the difference between using your body and inhabiting your body.

A Trauma-Informed, Consent-Based Approach

All my work, whether one-to-one, group, or online, is grounded in these core principles:

  • Your pace, always
You're in control of every step. We move only as fast as feels safe and comfortable for you.
  • Clear boundaries
Consent isn't just a concept. It's practised in every moment. You'll learn to recognise, communicate, and honour your boundaries.
  • Body wisdom
Your body holds profound intelligence. Rather than overriding it, we'll learn to listen to what it's telling you.
  • No performance pressure
This isn't about achieving goals or looking a certain way. It's about authentic connection and embodied awareness.
  • Professional support
As a Certified Sexological Bodyworker, trained Tantra practitioner, and experienced coach, I bring both ancient wisdom and modern understanding to this work.

Areas We Can Explore

With these essential skills in place, you're free to explore whatever areas most serve your healing and growth. Our work together adapts to what you need.

Many women come to this work wanting to reconnect with their bodies after years of disconnection, trauma, or simply not paying attention. Others are working to process and release shame they've carried around their bodies, desires, or sexual history, shame that was never theirs to carry in the first place.

Some are ready to reclaim pleasure for themselves, not as performance for a partner but as birthright and celebration. This includes exploring what actually creates desire for you, not what you think "should" work, but what genuinely awakens your body's interest and arousal.

If you're experiencing pain during sex or difficulty with arousal, we can work with understanding what's happening in your body and nervous system, gently exploring your capacity for sensation and pleasure at your own pace.

Many clients are navigating major life transitions: motherhood, perimenopause, menopause, relationship changes, or rediscovering themselves after years of caring for others. These transitions often bring profound shifts in how we relate to our bodies and sexuality, and this work offers support through that territory.

For those healing from past experiences that affect current intimacy, we work slowly and carefully with how those experiences live in your body, building safety and capacity for pleasure without re-traumatising.

We can explore developing authentic communication about your needs and desires, building confidence in your sexual expression, integrating breathwork and energy practices, or exploring fantasies and curiosities in a safe, non-judgemental space.

The focus is always on developing capacity and awareness rather than performing or achieving particular outcomes. We adapt the work session by session based on what's arising for you.

What Clients Experience

One-to-One Sessions

Embodiment • Safety • Empowerment • Life-changing
"Even from the very first session I felt empowered, like someone had managed to see inside me and bring me out of my shell."

I felt very lost, numb and alone. I've tried conventional therapies but there was still something missing. I was quite desperate when I came to see Melanie as nothing else had worked. I was so scared but Melanie surpassed my greatest expectations. It feels like my life will never be the same again. There are no words to express my gratitude. To experience a safe space where we can explore what I need together is life-changing.

K

One-to-One Sessions

Consent • Boundaries • Personal growth • Safe exploration
"From the first session we did exercises that helped me deeply understand my behaviour, consent and personal boundaries."

I instantly felt comfortable with Melanie to discuss personal experiences, fears and goals. I highly recommend Melanie for whoever wants to embark on this journey in a safe space!

Natalia

One-to-One Sessions

Trauma-informed • Sacred healing • Trust • Embodied integration
"Melanie is incredibly experienced at holding space. I felt safe, which built a very trusting tone to our sessions."

I highly recommend her work to anyone who has felt 'called' to heal and work in an integrated way with sexuality and the body. Melanie's personal study of tantric practise can be felt in its sacred understanding within the work, which brings the potential for healing to a deeper level.

Georgie

Drawing on Multiple Lineages

My work integrates wisdom from various traditions and contemporary research:

  • Sexological Bodywork : Somatic, educational approach to sexuality and embodiment
  • Tantric practices : Moving sexual energy throughout the body, viewing sexuality as sacred
  • Clean Language facilitation : Exploring your inner landscape without my interpretation
  • Somatic trauma work : Understanding how experiences live in the body and working with nervous system patterns
  • Wheel of Consent framework : Dr. Betty Martin's work on giving, receiving, taking, and allowing
  • Embodiment practices : Breathwork, movement, and presence-based approaches

This isn't an eclectic mix. It's a coherent approach that honours the body's wisdom whilst providing practical tools for transformation.
