Perhaps something feels missing and you cannot quite name it. Perhaps you feel disconnected during intimacy, or you're avoiding it altogether. Maybe pleasure feels elusive, or shame keeps you from fully inhabiting your body. These struggles are more common than you might think, and they don't have to be permanent.

I work with women at every life stage, and you do not have to arrive ready. Some women come knowing precisely what they want to change. Some arrive able to say only that something is off and they cannot name it. Some have been thinking about getting in touch for a very long time before they did. A vague sense that there could be more is a perfectly good place to start, and so is having no real idea what you would say on a call. That is what the conversation is for. We work it out together rather than beforehand.

The Reality of Women's Sexuality

So many of us have been taught to suppress, ignore, or feel ashamed of our sexuality. From an early age, mixed messages shape how we relate to our bodies and desires.

We're told our bodies are never quite right. Too much or too little. Too eager or not responsive enough. We learn to judge ourselves harshly, to disconnect from sensations, to prioritise others' pleasure over our own.

We carry collective wounds. Generations of women have experienced sexual shame, trauma, and the misuse of their bodies. This history lives in our cells, creating contraction where there should be expansion, fear where there could be joy.

We're sold a performance-based sexuality. Mainstream messages focus on how sex should look rather than how it feels. We're taught to "do" sexuality rather than to inhabit it, to perform rather than to feel, to chase orgasm rather than to experience pleasure.

The result? Many women feel like strangers in their own bodies. They go through the motions during intimacy, feel anxious about sexual encounters, or simply feel numb. Some experience physical pain. Others have lost desire entirely.

But here's the truth: Your body is not broken. Your sexuality is not damaged beyond repair. What you're experiencing is a natural response to living in a culture that has failed to honour the sacred nature of female sexuality.

Healing is possible. Reconnection awaits. And it begins with compassionate, body-centred work that honours your unique journey.

Your body isn't broken. The way you've been taught to approach sexuality might be.

The Struggles That Bring Women to This Work

You might recognise yourself in one or more of these experiences. Each represents a valid reason to seek support, and none requires you to have reached a crisis point before asking for help.

Disconnection from Your Body

Living mostly in your head, feeling detached from physical sensations, struggling to inhabit your body or feel truly present in intimate moments.

Difficulty Experiencing Pleasure

Finding it hard to relax into pleasure, always feeling like you need to perform or "get it right", unable to simply receive without thinking.

Shame and Self-Criticism

Carrying shame about your body, your desires, or your past. Judging yourself harshly for what you want or don't want sexually.

Healing from Trauma

Working through the aftermath of sexual trauma, assault, or boundary violations. Finding your way back to feeling safe in your body.

Loss of Desire or Arousal

Noticing your desire has diminished or disappeared. Struggling with arousal difficulties or feeling sexually "switched off".

Pain During Sex

Experiencing physical pain, discomfort, or tension during intimacy. Working with conditions like vaginismus, vulvodynia, or pelvic pain.

People-Pleasing in Intimacy

Saying yes when you mean no, having difficulty setting boundaries, prioritising your partner's pleasure over your own needs and desires.

Body Image Concerns

Feeling uncomfortable being seen or touched, avoiding intimacy because of how you feel about your body, unable to be present because you're monitoring how you look.

Life Transitions

Navigating changes after birth, through perimenopause or menopause, relationship endings, or other major life shifts affecting your sexuality.

Performance and Pressure

Feeling like sex is a performance rather than genuine connection. Pressure to orgasm, to "do it right", or to match external expectations.

Difficulty with Boundaries

Struggling to communicate what you want or don't want. Finding it hard to say no, or being uncertain about your own limits and needs.

Unexplored Desires or Curiosity

Feeling curious about aspects of your sexuality but unsure how to explore safely. Wanting to deepen your embodied experience but not knowing where to start.

Healing happens at the pace of safety, not the pace of urgency.

How I Support Your Healing Journey

My approach addresses these struggles through embodied, trauma-informed work that honours your unique path and pace.

We begin where you are. There's no pressure to undress, no timeline you must follow, no "normal" you need to achieve. Whether undressing is part of the work at all depends on what you have chosen to explore, and that is always your decision. Healing happens at your body's pace, not according to external expectations.

We reconnect you with your body's wisdom. Through practices like conscious touch education, breathwork, body awareness exercises, and somatic exploration, you'll learn how to listen to your body, including what to do when it seems to be saying nothing at all. This isn't about overriding your body's responses. It's about finally hearing them.

We address the root, not just the symptoms. Surface-level fixes don't create lasting transformation. We work with the deeper patterns, beliefs, and held experiences that created disconnection in the first place.

Your choices guide every session. You remain fully clothed unless and until you choose otherwise. You direct what happens, what pace feels right, what areas we explore. This is your healing journey, and your agency is sacred.

This isn't about learning techniques. It's about discovering what your body already knows.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you work with specific medical conditions affecting sexuality?

Yes. I work with women experiencing medical conditions affecting sexuality and embodiment, working collaboratively with your medical team.

Conditions I support:

Painful Sex & Pelvic Pain:

Sexual Function:

Hormonal & Gynaecological:

Post-Surgical & Treatment:

My Approach:

  • Work alongside medical treatment, never replacing it
  • Trauma-informed, body-led healing at your pace
  • Nervous system regulation and grief processing
  • You don't need a diagnosis - if you're experiencing difficulty with intimacy, embodiment work can help
I have a disability, chronic illness, or health condition - can you accommodate me?

Yes. I welcome women of all abilities and can adapt my practice to support your needs.

Important to know: I am not medically trained. My work focuses on supporting your sexuality, embodiment, and intimate connection in the context of your disability or health condition - not treating the condition itself. I work in collaboration with your existing medical team.

Physical accessibility: My home practice is on the first floor with stairs. For clients with mobility challenges, I can arrange accessible space hire across London (wheelchair accessible venues), home visits if you're in London, or online sessions which are fully accessible.

Chronic illness and fatigue: I work with women experiencing chronic pain conditions, chronic fatigue, ME/CFS, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, and other chronic conditions. I offer flexible cancellation for flare-ups or medical reasons, shorter session options (45 minutes) for fatigue management, and adaptive practices that work with your body's limitations. I understand medical equipment (ostomy bags, catheters, etc.) and can work with your needs.

Neurodivergence: I work with neurodivergent clients (autistic, ADHD, and other neurologies) and welcome clear, specific communication about what you need. This might include detailed information about what will happen in sessions, sensory accommodations (lighting, sound, temperature), direct communication style, and processing time as needed. You don't need to mask here - we'll work with your unique nervous system exactly as it is.

Please mention your needs during the discovery call so we can arrange the most suitable approach for you. Your body, exactly as it is, is welcome here.

Do I need to undress?

Only if that is part of what you have chosen to work on, and only when you ask for it.

A great deal of this work involves no undressing at all. If what you are exploring is consent, boundaries, or learning to notice what you want and say it out loud, that happens fully clothed. It is where most people begin, and some people stay there for months, because that is where the useful work is for them.

If you want to work with body image, or with full body touch, or with genital work, then undressing may become part of it. It does not have to be. Touch can be done over clothing, or with parts of you covered, if that is what you would rather, and that holds even for full body or genital work. That is your choice, not a lesser version of the session. Whatever you decide is agreed in advance, and you can change your mind at any point, including partway through.

Undressing can also be the exercise itself. For some people the hard part is not being touched, it is being seen, or seeing themselves. If that is what is alive for you, that is something we can work with directly, slowly and at your pace.

Nothing here happens by default. It happens because you asked for it.

What if I've experienced sexual trauma or abuse?

Much of my work is with trauma survivors. I work from a trauma-informed approach, which means your safety - physical, emotional, and psychological - is paramount.

You never need to recount details of what happened to you. Many clients work with me for months without ever describing their trauma verbally. We work with what your body holds - the patterns, responses, and protective mechanisms - rather than the story.

If you dissociate, freeze, or need to stop at any point, that's completely fine and expected. We'll work at your nervous system's pace, building capacity gradually. Many trauma survivors find that body-based work reaches places that talk therapy alone cannot.

This work addresses childhood sexual abuse, adolescent experiences, adult sexual assault, coercion, and any experiences where your boundaries were violated. Your body's responses aren't signs that you're broken - they're your nervous system's attempt to protect you.

What exactly is Sexological Bodywork?

Sexological Bodywork is a body-based educational approach to sexuality and embodiment. Unlike talk therapy, we work directly with your body through breath, movement, touch, and sensation practices.

Think of it as the sex education you should have received but didn't - combined with practical, embodied learning that addresses real challenges like disconnection, trauma responses, and rediscovering pleasure.

Sessions might include body awareness practices, breathwork, boundary exploration, conscious touch education, and somatic practices. Everything is tailored to your unique needs and comfort level.

Is this therapy or coaching?

This is somatic education and coaching - not psychotherapy. I don't diagnose or treat mental health conditions. If you're working with a therapist, this work can complement that beautifully. Many women find that bodywork addresses what talk therapy alone cannot reach.

How is this different from seeing a sex therapist?

Sex therapists work primarily through conversation and may assign homework exercises to try on your own. Sexological Bodywork involves hands-on guidance and witnessing of embodied practices during sessions. We work directly with your nervous system, breath, and body responses in real-time.

Both approaches have value. Some women work with both a therapist and a bodyworker. The embodied, experiential nature of this work often creates shifts that talking alone cannot.

How long does this work typically take?

Healing happens at your body's pace, not according to external timelines. Most clients work with me for a minimum of 3-6 months, though many continue for a year or longer as they deepen their practice.

This isn't a quick fix. We're addressing patterns that may have been present for years or decades - beliefs about your body, disconnection from sensation, protective responses, and deeply held shame. Real transformation requires time, patience, and consistent practice.

Some clients notice shifts quite quickly - perhaps feeling more present in their bodies, experiencing pleasure where there was numbness, or finding it easier to set boundaries. Deeper transformation - like healing from trauma or completely reshaping your relationship with sexuality - naturally takes longer.

There's no pressure to commit to a specific timeframe. We can work session by session, though many clients find that committing to a series (such as six sessions) allows for deeper work.

What do sessions actually involve?

Every session is tailored to where you are and what you need. We might work with:

Body awareness practices - Learning to feel sensation, notice where you're numb or tense, and develop your capacity to be present in your body
Breathwork - Using breath to regulate your nervous system, release held tension, and expand your capacity for pleasure
Boundary exploration - Practising saying yes and no, noticing what feels good versus what you think should feel good
Conscious touch education - Learning about different types of touch, what serves arousal versus what creates pressure
Somatic practices - Working directly with body responses, tensions, and held patterns
Movement and expression - Allowing your body to move in ways that feel authentic and alive

Sessions may be entirely conversational and clothed, or may involve guided practices whilst you remain fully dressed. Any touch work only happens with your explicit, enthusiastic consent and at your direction.

I'm going through menopause - can this work help?

Absolutely. Menopause and perimenopause bring profound changes - not just physical (dryness, changes in arousal patterns) but also psychological and spiritual. Many women report feeling like they're losing something essential during this transition.

This work helps you navigate these changes with presence and compassion rather than shame or loss. We explore what pleasure and arousal feel like in your changing body, work with the emotional landscape of this transition, and help you reclaim your sexuality in a way that honours where you are now - not where you used to be.

The Eternal Goddess programme is specifically designed for women in perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause, offering community support alongside individual exploration.

What if I've just lost all desire and don't know why?

Loss of desire is one of the most common struggles women bring to this work - and it's rarely "just physical". Desire doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's affected by stress, relationship dynamics, how safe you feel in your body, past experiences, life transitions, and whether you're getting the kind of intimacy that actually nourishes you.

We'll explore what's underneath the lack of desire. Sometimes it's exhaustion. Sometimes it's unresolved resentment. Sometimes it's that you don't actually want the kind of sex that's on offer. Sometimes it's that you've disconnected from your body so thoroughly that desire has nowhere to root.

Some women find, once the pressure is off, that there was never much desire there to begin with, and that they are genuinely at peace with that. Being asexual, or simply having little interest in sex, is a way of being rather than a problem to solve, and this work does not set out to change it. The goal isn't to "get your libido back" as though you're broken. It's to understand what you need in order to feel alive, safe, and connected - and to discover what desire feels like when it's genuinely yours, not performed.

Can my partner be involved?

Initially, this work is individual - focusing on your relationship with your own body. Once you've built a foundation, we can discuss whether couples work makes sense. I do offer couples sessions - you can read more about my couples work on the dedicated couples page.

Is this work only for people with "problems"?

Not at all. Some women come to this work because something feels wrong or broken. Others come because they want to deepen what's already present - to explore pleasure more fully, to become more embodied, to discover what's possible beyond what they've already experienced.

You don't need to have trauma, pain, or dysfunction to deserve this work. Wanting to feel more alive, more connected, more fully yourself - that's reason enough.

Many women discover that even when things seem "fine", there are layers of aliveness, pleasure, and authentic expression they hadn't yet accessed. This work is for anyone who senses there's more available to them.

What are the boundaries around this work?

Clear boundaries are essential for safe, effective work. Boundaries include: you do not touch me; this is not mutual sexual interaction or gratification; sessions have clear start and end times; all practices are discussed and agreed upon before they happen; and the work is always one-directional and in service of your healing. These boundaries create the safety needed for vulnerable healing work.

How do I know if this work is right for me?

If you're reading this and feeling a pull - whether it's curiosity, hope, or even fear mixed with longing - that's your body telling you something. Trust that.

This work is right for you if:

You feel disconnected from your body or sexuality and want to find your way back
You've tried talk therapy but sense you need something that works directly with your body
You're ready to heal from past experiences that still affect your intimacy
You want to explore pleasure without shame or performance pressure
You're navigating life transitions (motherhood, menopause, divorce) and want support
You sense there's more aliveness available to you than you're currently experiencing
You want to work with someone who understands that healing happens at your body's pace

The best way to know is to book a free 60-minute discovery call. We'll discuss where you are, what you're seeking, and whether this approach feels right for you. No pressure, no obligation - just an opportunity to explore what's possible.

Can I explore or touch another woman's body as part of this work?
Yes, this is something we can explore within clear educational and ethical boundaries.
Many women have never seen another vulva in real life - only in pornography (where bodies are often surgically altered) or clinical diagrams. Some women want to know what it feels like to touch another woman's body - not sexually, but to understand what's "normal," to learn, or simply out of curiosity they've never had a safe space to explore.
This is completely valid. Wanting to see and touch another woman's anatomy in an educational context doesn't need to mean anything about your sexuality - though if it does, that's welcome too.
This work sits within the ASIS (Association for Somatic and Integrative Sexology) ethical framework, which allows for facilitated educational experiences involving another body. Everything happens with full consent, clear boundaries, and at whatever pace feels right for you.
If this is something you're curious about, we can discuss it during a discovery call to see if it's appropriate for your situation.

Practical Information & Logistics

Where are sessions held?

In-person sessions are held at my home in North London (N11 postcode area). The space is discreet, comfortable, and specifically set up for this therapeutic work. Online sessions are conducted via Zoom for those who prefer remote work or live outside the area.

How do I get there?

The practice is conveniently located near both underground and train stations, making it easily accessible via public transport. If you're driving, there is free on-street parking available in the area. Specific address details will be provided when you book your first session.

Is the location discreet?

Yes. Sessions are held at my home in a quiet residential area with private entry. You won't encounter other clients, and sessions are scheduled with appropriate time between them for complete privacy.

How long are sessions?

Standard sessions are 90 minutes. This allows adequate time for check-in, practice, and integration without feeling rushed. For women experiencing chronic fatigue or other health conditions, shorter sessions (45-60 minutes) can be arranged. We'll discuss what's appropriate for your needs during the discovery call.

How much do one-to-one sessions cost?

One-to-one sessions are £180 for 90 minutes, available online or in-person in North London.

I hold limited reduced-rate spaces for those experiencing financial hardship. Please mention this during your discovery call - financial constraints should not be a barrier to this work. I'm happy to discuss what's possible.

Group programmes like The Eternal Goddess and Being in Love with You offer a more accessible entry point whilst still providing deep transformational work within a supportive community.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. Much of this work translates beautifully to online sessions. Whilst we can't do hands-on touch work remotely, we can work with body awareness, breathwork, self-touch education, boundary exploration, and somatic practices.

Many clients actually prefer online sessions initially as they feel safer exploring this work in their own space. Online work is particularly suitable for those with mobility challenges, chronic illness, or who live outside North London.

We use Zoom for sessions, and I'll guide you through practices you can do in your own space at your own pace.

How do I book sessions?

After your initial discovery call, if we decide to work together, you'll receive a booking link where you can schedule sessions at times that work for you. I typically recommend weekly or fortnightly sessions initially, moving to monthly once you've built a solid foundation.

What if I need to reschedule?

Life happens. Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to reschedule. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged, as that time has been reserved for you. For chronic illness flare-ups or medical emergencies, I'm as flexible as possible.

How do I pay for sessions?

Payment is typically made via bank transfer or card payment at the time of booking. For ongoing clients, pay-on-the-day arrangements can be made.

Can I pay a deposit instead of the full amount upfront?

Yes. You can pay a deposit to secure your booking, with the balance due on the day of your session. This option is available for all session types.

Can I split the cost of a package deal?

Absolutely. Session packages can be paid in full upfront (to receive the discount), or split across your first 2-3 sessions by arrangement.

What if I can't afford your standard rates?

I hold a limited number of reduced-rate spaces each month for women experiencing financial hardship. If cost is a barrier, please mention this during your discovery call. This work shouldn't be available only to those who can easily afford it. All conversations about finances are handled confidentially and without judgement.

Is this work confidential?

Absolutely. Everything discussed and experienced in sessions is completely confidential. I do not share information about clients with anyone. The only exception would be if you were at immediate risk of harming yourself or others, in which case I have a duty of care to ensure safety.

What should I bring to sessions?

Just yourself. You don't need to bring anything specific. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax and move easily. For online sessions, ensure you have a private space where you won't be interrupted.

Transformation Is Possible

You don't have to stay stuck in these patterns. Women at every stage of life are finding their way back to embodied pleasure and authentic connection. Whether you're just beginning to explore what embodied sexuality means, navigating major life transitions, or rediscovering intimacy after years of disconnection. Your journey towards wholeness is valid and possible.

These are real stories from women at different points in their lives, each finding their own path through the struggles that brought them to this work. Some came feeling completely disconnected from their bodies. Others arrived carrying shame or trauma. Many simply knew something was missing, even if they couldn't name what it was.

Being In Love With You Course

Self-love • Boundaries • Body awareness • Healing touch
"I'm still the kind compassionate Jules I was before but I am not anxious and burnt out. I have learnt to check in with myself and check what I need before I respond to what other people want."

Taking part in this course has truly been phenomenal and I cannot express the positive impact participating has made. Simple things like just gently stroking my hands and spending time with myself in a loving way (which I have never done before) has been profound. Giving myself tenderness through whole-body touching has made me realise how important self-love is and how healing self-touch can be. The breathing techniques has given me a way of calming or relaxing myself and the theory-based work has given me understanding and the context to understand my reactions and behaviours.

One-to-One Sessions

Deep healing • Trauma recovery • Safe space • Empowerment
"I was quite desperate when I came to see Melanie as nothing else had worked up to now. I was so scared but Melanie surpassed my greatest expectations and I will always be so grateful to her for saving me when nothing else worked."

I felt very lost, numb and alone and really didn't know what I needed to do to find the connection and help I was searching for. I have tried other conventional therapies and medications but there was still something missing. That's when I found Melanie. I have been seeing Melanie for a while now and have been so amazed and delighted with the results. I've experienced a totally different human connection; one that has managed to reach into my heart and soul and awaken it. Even from the very first session I felt empowered and like someone had managed to see inside me and bring me out of my shell.
